Cool deck. Would Wingman work in here, or is that just a win more?

rkik 753

@Darth Chump I think that would really be win more. My understanding with the deck is that you want to activate Unkar and the Trooper early so you have dice to use for control and Unkar's ability. Then you roll FN in late after you've played a bunch of weapons on him.

If I may ask something - why Gaffi stick instead of for example F-11D Rifle or DH-17 Blaster Pistol ?

badeesh 56

Excellent deck. Do you think for an extra few HP that a single Unkar and Death Trooper would be a good or bad idea?

W0dan 1

@badeesh i think you need the second Unkar dice to take advantage of both support (Imperial Inspection & Salvage stand). You need to control what's you openent can do more than 1HP. I'm not impressed by this decklist, and i would like to see a game against a ePoe&eMaz to see how he can deal with Thermal Detonator

badeesh 56

It's 3 extra HP and it has a disrupt, but point taken. I think at best it is 50/50 against PoeMaz. But you only need some luck to take down a tournament.

rkik 753

@michaelius it's mainly for the melee damage and disrupt. There's a bit more melee weapons, so it fits well. They could reasonably be replaced with F-11D Rifle.

That's a really powerful removal set - but I can't say I like one-quarter portion over Flank

tacoboozefairy 13

@W0dan Well, it beat several poe/maz decks on the way to the championship...

W0dan 1

@tacoboozefairy Yeah, that's why i would really like to see the game beetween these two decks. I surely play bad, but for me PoeMaz got the advantage

michaelius 8

I'm guessing it's why there's so much removal - to block at least 1 Poe die each turn while FN pumps damage.

I recently played an FN-2199 Unkar Plutt Kylo Ren deck at a tournament. I went 2-2, losing to two hero decks that caused me trouble with recurring Second Chance. I don't think this deck would be any better against those (although Imperial Inspection might help against Ammo Belt), but I think it is an all-round better deck than what I played. The Poe Maz match up is definitely improved by The Best Defense... and if you get lucky on an Unkar Plutt - Junk Dealer action it can yoink a powerful card away from Poe Maz before they get to use it AND set you up to play whatever weapons you draw. However, I agree the earlier comment that Flank would be better than One-Quarter Portion.

RybackStun 1

@tacoboozefairyDid it beat several Poe/Maz decks? I wasn't aware that info was available.

Bensonders 1

@RybackStun well..it had to? The event was overrun with Poe/Maz so its unlikely that it went to the tops without even seeing one.

rkik 753

@Bensonders @RybackStun based on starwarsdestiny.wordpress.com it looks like this could have made it without playing a Moe deck, but not likely. It did beat Vader/Raider in the finals.

RybackStun 1

That's what I'm saying, there is NO guarantee that it had to face Poe/Maz at all. I'd like to see from the tournament winners a TR so we can figure out if he ever had to face the deck at all.

There were only 3 Moe decks in Top 8, he very likely could have faced one of the other 4 decks while the last 3 KO'd the Moe decks.

It doesn't matter if it is likely or not, what matters is the actuality of the situation

Isenfaust 1

Guys i am new to the game trying to grasp concept behind this deck. Whats the trick? How to pilot this bad boy?:)

rkik 753

@Isenfaust I'm at work and on mobile so I can't go into a lot of detail, but in general you want to spend resources early on removing your opponent's dice. Then roll in Unkarr and the Trooper early. Use Unkarr's ability to get more resources, and then play weapons on FN-2199 to do damage. Once you're out of weapons, roll in FN and do some more damage.

KovuTalli 1

A lot of the Poe Maz Decks ending up playing off against each other, I was running one and played 3 mirrors out of the 10 games and every game there was a poe Maz either side of me and/or a Poe Maz Mirror.

Ark Trooper 1

The Poe maz matchup is fine. I personally am 6-0 against it. Honestly Poe maz doesn't stand a chance to a well built fn deck doesn't matter the charter up. If they don't kill fn turn one then you'll over them like it's nothing. I am currently playing ebala royal guard and fn.

rkik 753

@Ark Trooper I am curious to know why you think FN is a good matchup against Moe. How do you play it? Do you just throw everything on FN or do you spread things around more? I'd love to see your deck with any notes you have.

proxy 8

@Ark Trooper, any chance we can see your list? Sounds like a very interesting character combination.

Traxlenak 9

I played Unkar/Fn 2199/Kylo in a store championship, and yes, mostly it is build to destroy Poe/Maz. I killed 3 poe/maz teams, including one in the finals that had gone 5-0 before we cut to top 4.

rkik 753

@Traxlenak any pointers or strategies you'd suggest for the deck?

RagnaarHaas 1

@W0dan - its very good against ePoe/eMaz. Unkar's ability can dig into their hand and discard high cost cards, get an economy advantage and tear into Poe early with FN's ability. Once Poe is gone, game over. I have played a varient of this build over 30+ games and the only thing to give it problems is Vader/Raider. I have played against Emo Twins, Han/Rey, Snap decks, Jyn/Ackbar, and several Poe/Maz. Many were piloted by very good players. It controls, chokes, mills (a bit) and deals good damage. You just have to have a game plan of how to deal with what you are facing, mulligan/dig for the right cards, and stick to it.
