Double Blanks Gaming- Jay 2232

Hey guys! This is Jay from Double Blanks Gaming!

So this is a list I was inspired to play because I wanted to test out a one die Qui Gon. The idea here is that Qui Gon only needs to be one die because his ability is the equivalent of having a second die or more! Also, your opponent has the option of taking down Ahsoka while being pinged to death or going for QG who only has one die and Ahsoka is a late game beast!

There are several combos in this list that I absolutely love. First off, Lukes protection is very very good. One of the best combos that I have in fact pulled off in many of the games is to play Lukes Protection and use it, ping a damage, then activate QG who has fearless and 2 shotos, ping 3 damage, get your LP back from the card draw from fearless, ping it again, play trust your instincts, get LP again and ping again. That is 6 damage without resolving any dice. The arguement is needing to get the card draw but with mulligan you have a strong chance of getting Lightsaber Pull, Shoto, or Fearless. Plus Maz's castle helps find the card you want.

What if they go for GQ you say?! Well! In the games I have played where they went for QG I have been able to load ahsoka up with the same load out to shield her up, keep her alive, and have the resources to reset her. I have videos that will be going up to prove this. Now I do have to say I have't played against enough of the "Top Tier Decks" to determine if this is an AMAZING deck but I do think that it is very solid.

Where's the mitigation?! Your shields are mitigation. What about Vibro diddy?! Well then you're screwed lol or force misdirect a couple of rounds to keep your shields online to try and close out. ORRRR my preferred choice... riot in front of FFG headquarters until things are fixed :D

Ahsoka is my fav char, and this was the first EAW build I made. But with Kylo 2p broken (at least in my opinon) ability of killing mono color decks, and yes still VK (not to mention vibro Axe), I moved away from this combo. But hoping it can make a comeback in the near future.

@jones0610 Totally dude, New Kylo is ridiculous :/ But it is still super fun to play casually! :D

I don't know about this build specifically as I haven't tested against it but I think blue hero can be very competitive. The only matchups we really need to worry about are Thrawnkar and Kylo/FN.

I think Rend needs to be in here or Thrawnkar (or any other deck with Imperial Inspection) will wreck your 2 cost upgrade plan. Other than that, if we don't discard too much and instead focus on resolving what we have and doing Qui Gon's ping we can survive the mill. We need to remove Crime Lord whenever we see it because if one of our characters dies its all downhill. Luckily there isn't too much action cheating for Thrawnkar. Riposte being in this deck helps a lot against Thrawnkar as well as they will not be removing your shields.

For Kylo/FN, we need to include enough gray cards that we can avoid his ability now and then. Sound the Alarm, Rend, Take Cover, and VIbroknife should be fine. When you get one of these in your hand, attempt to discard, play or otherwise get rid of blue cards to increase the chances of him pulling a gray card. In addition, we probably need to kill Kylo by turn 2. Luckily, our ping can do several damage each turn and our dice are very good. Kylo/FN also does not usually play very much mitigation. I think once Kylo Goes down, if one of your blue character is still alive with at least one upgrade on it, then you have a decent chance of beating FN.

Just my 2 cents. -NickTheBug; Mandalorian HQ

I've been playing Training day since AW and feel each set has been stronger esp. SoR. Thought of this deck as well. I agree mono blue sucks against Kylo but all those shields should make up for it. I agree QG is one of the strongest single die characters along with Jango and ironically Ahsoka. I would swap out guard for deflect. Trading 2 damage (dealt) for -5 to -6 damage taken is better than best defense and can turn +2 and +3 sides into defense esp when you don't roll base at all. Deflect may not work at all against some decks although ranged is the meta it also cost 1 vs 0.

@nickthebug7777 I would not include grey cards to dodge Kylos ability, yes it will help sometimes, but how often? How much weaker do you want to make this deck for that 1 ability? Say you replace 6 blue cards and you go from 1 in 7 to 1 in 3 that Kylo will miss, is that the kind of amount that will generally make you win? I don't think so.

His ability is messed up and it makes mono decks that much weaker, but I don't think the answer is to run suboptimal grey cards. That said, I do like Rend in this deck, it being grey is a positive, but it's an answer to many cards that can help you not just beat Kylo, but also various other decks.

As for this deck, watched it, loved it, so much consistency.

I am enjoying this build a lot, I am so far 3-0 to include beating a Baby Vader/Phasma team. I will actually try this build against my group next weekend. Ahsoka died, but she took baby vader with her. Leaving Qui-Gon at full health and 3 shields against a full health Phasma. She died to the pings(no damage rolls made it through) lol. Qui-Gon had a shoto, fearless and ancient light saber on. :D

nickthebug7777 1381

@Neroon yes, I would not include suboptimal gray cards just to avoid Kylo's ability. I personally would not include Take Cover but Jay included it in his list and it isn't a bad idea.

I will say, even if we include suboptimal cards in an otherwise optimal blue hero deck, Kylo/X is basically our only fear so if we can avoid his ability even 50% more often we should attempt to.

VonStryker 9

@nickthebug7777 what cards do you think should be changed to add Rend and Sound the Alarm? I was thinking the same thing but I can't think of what cards to possibly remove.

nickthebug7777 1381

@VonStryker I'd probably take out Defensive Stance and Trust Your instincts. They feel like the lest impact full cards in the deck. That being said, if you find that you like Trust Your Instincts for its ability to grab you Luke's Protection it might be worth keeping. Similarly, if you find that Defensive Stance is doing work for you it also might be worth keeping.

I'm not sure how important Take Cover is to the deck and I probably would not have included it. It is gray, however, and so helps us against Kylo2 as well as getting us a shield on Qui Gon to bring his ability back on line.

With Lightsaber Pull in the deck, you can also afford to drop one copy of Rey's Saber for something else.

VonStryker 9

@nickthebug7777 Trust your instincts has been way to good for me in these matches. so that is out of the question. I can see dropping Rey's Saber, you do have a point there. I have yet to use Defensive stance, so I might test it out taking those two out. That's three cards, to add 2x Rend and 1x Sound the alarm.

I am also thinking removing 1x Riposte and adding a second Sound the Alarm. even though I have used it twice(i think) I don't see myself using more than once a match.

I will test this out to see how I like it. although I only have 3 matches with it so maybe my opinion isn't worth as much as someone like Jay's or yours.

VonStryker 9

also, what about the battlefield, would it be a good idea to change it to secluded beach?

nickthebug7777 1381

@VonStryker having seen Jay's videos with this deck, I would agree that Trust Your Instincts is a good card for the deck. That being said it isn't too big of a combo piece and it doesn't itself deal damage which is why I suggested dropping it.

I actually have begun putting only 1 copy of Riposte in my blue hero decks and I haven't missed it too much. That being said, if the opponent goes for Qui Gon first and you get your shield generation set up on Ahsoka then you have no use for those extra shields.

I think any of those would be reasonable to remove but you also don't necessarily need 2 copies of Sound The Alarm.

As for the battlefield, I think Maz's castle was initially chosen to sift through the deck for the Shotos and Fearless (you'll have to ask Jay though). For that reason Maz's Castle isn't a bad choice. Other choices include Obi Wan's Hut (which is what I would have used) or Secluded Beach (which is not a bad option but helps you zero against other melee decks). Moisture Farm isn't a terrible choice but until FN gets an errata I wouldn't use it because it gives him such an advantage.

@Double Blanks Gaming- Jay``@nickthebug7777

with the new RRG, what do you guys think about this deck now? competitive? tier 1? I personally do think so, along with eQui-Gon/eKanan. now that shields matter a bit more

time to make Blue heroes great again

Double Blanks Gaming- Jay 2232

@VonStryker``@nickthebug7777 I think this list is so much better, I was considering putting in several Greys, however now that Kylo has no pairings I don't think we need to worry about him? Take Cover is super good in this deck I think. 1 damage for 0 cost is good. I definitely thinking swapping to a different battlefield could be a good idea however I usually take long turns with this deck using it combos. I usually want to start with 2 shields too so that is why I am using Secret Facility.

@gustafunkThank you man! :)

@theagentcomaHero's are about to be on an even playing field finally!

nickthebug7777 1381

@VonStryker @Double Blanks Gaming- Jay I really think blue hero is one of the best things in the game right now. I'm not sure which blue hero deck will be the best but one (or several!) will be tier 1 imo.

I agree that we don't really need to worry about Kylo2 anymore. He has basically no good pairings at all because they increased the point cost of Phasma, FN, and Unkar. They also nerfed Thrawnkar and red heroes for us which were our other tough matches.

Jay I have seen some of your videos and you forgot your basics! To quote Chris, "Guard sorts the great blue hero players from the good" and you sir are lacking.......

Darth_Cat 1

Would you replace Vibroknife post erratta?

mwoodring72 1

I heard you on The Jedi Trials describing this deck. It's hilarious! I can't wait to try it out sometime.
