War-Torn Streets - Jedha always makes the opponent think. Ideally you want them to choose theirs so you can activate General Rieekan - Defensive Mastermind immediately. If the choice is left up to you, only a couple of battlefields are worth avoiding. Emperor's Throne Room - Death Star II and Starship Graveyard - Jakku come to mind.

Your ideal starting hand has Chance Cube, C-3PO, Caution, Hunker Down, Protective Mentor. Definitely wanna mulligan Hyperspace Jump and Entrenched.

Your priorities are getting money, keeping whoever your opponents are targeting alive, and keeping at least 1 shield on the non-Rieekan characters.

Activation order is General Rieekan - Defensive Mastermind, Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo, Jedi Instructor. The focus sides are used to get Chance Cube to the three side. It's most beneficial to use the three side for discard ala C-3PO.

You should prepare for General Rieekan - Defensive Mastermind to go down first. I end up putting Chance Cube on Jedi Instructor since they're the least threatening. By the time the General is defeated you should have your opponent nearly milled. Keeping shields up using all your different options is powerful, you can maximize damage absorbtion using Protective Mentor. I try and hold off on using stuff like Air Superiority and Hunker Down triggers until I'm sure my opponent won't deal any more damage in the turn. That way I'm set up to tap Rieekan's ability asap next turn.

Hyperspace Jump wins games. With all the stuff in blue to dodge the mill like Ancient Lightsaber and Luke's Protection, you can definitely catch your opponent off-guard. It also gets War-Torn Streets - Jedha into play which is often key for finishing your opponent. Eeking out one more turn for Rieekan is also awesome.

Some people may be wondering why only 1 copy of All Quiet On The Front. I think the card is awesome...situationally. If you are losing then it's not likely you will have a lot of shields. I would never want to play two copies of it in a game either. Usually hitting it for 7-8 right after an Entrenched is ideal, otherwise I'll do it for 4-5 if it finishes them off.

My toughest matchups end up being ones where a character gets blasted down in the first 2 turns. Kylo Ren - Tormented One just lost his favorite partners in Captain Phasma - Ruthless Tactician and FN-2199 - Loyal Trooper. He tends to be a bad matchup. Same story with Darth Vader - Dark Apprentice. Mace Windu - Jedi Champion can also spell trouble. Using spot removal when you know you need to is the best way to avoid huge swings. Outlast and win!

awesome write up Thanks so much

The problem is you cannot beat Maz+Hera as the vehicles bounce back to their hand at the end of the round. Without a force speed or pickpocket, the matchup is unwinnable unless your opponent messed up.

I've had decent luck against Hera actually. The long setup time and lack of natural damage sides on the character dice means I can shield thoroughly and hopefully remove the problematic U-Wing/Falcon die. That deck's lack of board control will often let me do my stuff unimpeded. If they can't ever remove my Chance Cube for 3 they're in trouble.

If you are speaking to their inability to mill due to Hera's ability, I'll remind you it takes at least 2 actions to get the vehicle out. War-Torn Streets - Jedha helps out here as well as C-3PO's ability. I have had a good track record against most vehicle decks with this specific build.

I'm curious as to your decision to run Electroshock over One-Quarter Portion One Quarter targets any die and doesn't have the spot restriction? I'm reluctant to give my opponent a resource, but late game it can be invaluable, especially when your yellow character is dead...

Epro 572

One-Quarter Portion being villian only is a major drawback...

Sparetomato 1

Lol! Ah yes! That would be a slight issue ;)

Goes to show which faction I’ve played the most! :)

My only question is "why one copy ofSpy Net and not two"?

Epro 572

Spy Net x2 has been discussed. I'd argue that it's somewhat of a win-more. Haven't personally tested it though. Sound The Alarm and Quick Escape didn't help me much in the tournament I played today. Considering Krayt Dragon Howl and/or Overconfidence right now. Sabine Wren - Explosives Expert can be added to the list of decks this is weak to.

Sabine Wren - Explosives Expert wrecks just about every deck so far, have not found anything that beats it consistently.

I managed to beat Sabine Wren - Explosives Expert with similar rieekan mill but it comes to 2 things - her not rolling some crazy dmg one turn (like 2x3 blasters + thermal special...) and you getting decent draw (Spy Net or C-3PO in opening hand is a must vs her to speed things up). Beatable but , true , nowhere near consistent. But every other deck i faced (hero vehicle spam, Vader/Guard , PhasmaGuardians, 7Sister/Phasma/Bazine, Ashoka/eQuigon) was milled before killing second character of mine.

So when is the right time to play hyperspace jump?

Epro 572

When the opponent just rolled out a god-roll. Or when you need to switch battlefields. Also fun to screw over people who are smug about not being milled thanks to Luke's Protection and Ancient Lightsaber.

On a separate note - Closing the Net kicked my butt the other night.

Have you thought about running Impersonate? With the Jedi Instructor having 9 health seems like a good card to move 5-7 damage off your two big mill characters.

Epro 572

Interesting suggestion. Since publishing I have seen multiple of this deck pop up in my meta. The general opinion is Krayt Dragon Howl belongs in. I've seen Partnership work well and have also considered a Second Chance.

MaineQat 1

Have you tried running with Diplomatic Immunity? No blanks, lots of shield output with the ability to distribute it as you wish seems like it would help General Rieekan - Defensive Mastermind, if he lives long enough.

Epro 572

I don't like the idea of paying 4 resources for something. Especially if the opponent can potentially negate the die. Second Chance is the only unique exception to that as playing it guarantees the effect.

Epro 572

I have been running this list a lot lately against a more developed meta. R2P2's consistency helps them out a lot but milling 1 of 2 Shoto Lightsaber can swing the game in my favor. Not to mention if they go with their Docking Bay - Finalizer as that will get me my starting shields and easy access to C-3PO and recurring Honor Guard. Handcrafted Light Bow being chained by Poe Dameron - More Than A Pilot can't be dealt with easily so I do my best to mitigate the potential of that resolving. Quigon/Kanan doesn't burst as hard so I can usually shield up. Rainbow 5's is my favorite matchup as they rely on discarding into better rolls more than the two Shoto Lightsaber decks.

Krayt Dragon Howl replaced Sound The Alarm in my most recent incarnation...it's a more aggressive effect. Also got a Second Chance instead of 2nd Hunker Down.

@Epro, how do you see this deck evolving with Legacies coming out? I've been looking to play a variant of this deck myself and, as we have Legacies in Europe I've been looking to find space for the likes of Diplomatic) Protection, Mend,) Strength) Through Weakness, Heightened) Awareness, and Force) Meditation.

There's also some more mitigation options such as Mislead,) which I feel could replace electroshock as you remove the need to spot a character (although it's less flexible being restricted to character dice only).

Not actually played any games with this deck yet so been looking around for some inspiration (my initial build was closer to my usual deck-building formula of ~10 mitigation cards, ~10 upgrades/supports, ~10 events that advance the goal, but a few practice games against myself saw that was clearly never going to work.

I've still got a stack of about 60 cards that I want to use in this deck that I need to whittle down to 30, looking at this list has certainly helped, although it still feels weird looking at a deck with just 6 upgrades. I can see how this deck makes that work as it's ultimate goal is to just outlast your opponent, not get dice out as quickly as possible. Looking forward to playing with it.

Epro 572

Force Meditation and Mislead maybe but Heightened Awareness seems like a worse Defensive Stance which I cut early on. I am most excited to include Bespin Wing Guard x2.

Big_Campy 384

I agree Bespin Wing Guard will be great for this deck. I run Rieekan Rainbow Mill as well and looking forward to Unbreakable and Hidden Motive. Bartering could be interesting as well.

@Epro Have you thought about dropping Padme for Yoda and then doing an 8 point yellow? Jedha Partisan essentially has 3 Mill sides or Hired Gun if you want the same health pool.
