This is a fun Aggro Deck.

Kanan Jarrus is known for his excellent action economy. Chirrut Imwe is not used often but has 4 Damage sides and a great ability!

Yes, they are 2 Mixed Damage Characters, but hear me out...

The Battlefield: Obi-Wan's Hut - Good for Mono Blue Decks for added Defense. (no big surprise here)

The Upgrades: Each Upgrade is designed to be able to use on both Kanan and Chirrut. Chirrut cannot use Blue Abilities so I only use Blue Weapons. Each one either has Redeploy, Ambush or is incredibly useful.

  • Ancient Lightsaber - No Redeploy but the Ability and the +3 Melee is well worth it.
  • Handcrafted Light Bow - No Redeploy but the Mixed damage works with these 2 characters.
  • Holdout Blaster - Ambush & Redeploy and Range Damage is totally fine with these 2 characters.
  • Rey's Lightsaber - Redeploy with an amazing die and ability.
  • Shoto Lightsaber - No Redeploy but a great Die and a Must for the defensive shields.
  • Vibroknife - Ambush and No Redeploy. Still an Amazing Fast Upgrade, even after the RRG.

The Supports:

  • Awakening - Remember this card??? :-) This card works great for cleaning up the Modifier Mixed damage dice that are left after you dealt the damage that rolled black sides. A lot of people forget this card and don't see this coming. (Oh, an Ancient Lightsaber +3 Side left in the pool? Yes Please!)
  • It Binds All Things - Great in the Early Game, not so good late game it but can help to get the Handcrafted Lightbow or Rey's Lightsaber out early.

The Events:

  • Caution - Great for Defense and when you have a modified die left in the pool and no Awakening Support.
  • Force Misdirection - (The ONLY 1 cost Event, all others are 0)I think we all know how powerful this card can be with Kanan's Ability and his Mixed Damage Die.
  • Guard - Great for Mitigation.
  • Lightsaber Pull - When you really need that Ancient Lightsaber ability or that extra Shoto for Shields.
  • Reaping the Crystal - Another Great way to get a Handcrafted Lightbow or a Rey's Lightsaber out quickly.
  • Rend - For those Pesky Sith Holocrons, Fast hands, Force Speed and Imperial Inspections.
  • Sound the Alarm - For more great Mitigation.
  • Trust Your Instincts - Great for a 2 Character Mono Blue deck and lets you draw another card for rerolls or needed cards.

Your Turn: The turn is quite simple.

  • If you lost the initiative roll or if you opt to use your opponents Battlefield, put 1 shield on each Character... Let your opponent decide who they want to go after first. (it may or may not be the right choice... let them really think about it and not be sure if its the right decision)
  • Hopefully put an upgrade on Kanan or Chirrut, depending on who your opponent is targeting. Redeploys only on the Opponents target. Shotos on a Character that already has a weapon... you know how that goes.
  • Roll in Kanan first to give your Mitigation Events something to work with. Hopefully you roll a Kanan Focus because of the amazing options that it opens up. This also forces your opponent to really focus on how to remove or mitigate his dice before they can roll out.
  • Roll in Chirrut and use his AWESOME ability to reroll any Blanks that he or Kanan rolled. This greatly increases your odds to roll Damage sides (Range or Melee, it doesn't matter) odds are you will have solid black numbers you can use on modified dice.
  • Deal the damage and mitigate your opponent as you normally would.
  • Leave the odd range or melee modified damage dice in the pool to be used by Mitigation events or the Awakening Support to deal damage.

Another great feature of this deck is that there is no clear 1st Target. They may go for Kanan because they don't like his ability, but he has the worse damage dealing die. They then need to deal with Chirrut with 4 Damage Sides and more heath. If they go after Chirrut first, then do as much Kanan shenanigans as you can! Either way, use the upgrades and events to boost the defenses of the targeted Character.

Well, I doubt this is a 1st Tier deck, but it definitely surprises people when they play against it. The one thing I know, is that it is Really Fun to Play!

Hope you like it!

Might be the best named deck ever! At least you watch the show.

I tried this combo with At Peace. Play it after activating Kanan and befor you activate Chirrut.

I´ve been playing Chirrut for months and consider his ability the best in the game. Cool deck, but I disagree on you mixed damage approach though. The big issue with him is not his mixed damage, but the few black sides imho. It´s imperative that his partner as well as the upgrade suite helps out there.

My conclusion after trying Chirrut out with various partners is to go in one direction and maximise usage. Else you end up needing to support the chars with stuff like Awakening etc.

Rather go all ranged with Hold Out, Lightbow, Force Throw and/or Force Push. Then you are consistent and has alot of nice black . If you go melee there´s a dearth of good weapons to support the strategy unless you go into the grey ones, which you don´t want to do as then you lose out on Training.

I´d say Chirrut is a good partner and weapon or two away from being flawless. On the melee side I´m waiting for Heirloom Lightsaber and on partners both Luke Skywalker - Unlikely Hero and Han Solo - Savvy Smuggler will fill out the blanks. Han is espceialli interesting as then we´ll be able to use Running Interference and the nice black sided yellow guns.

@Scactha Thanks for your opinion. : )

I agree with you about the Heirloom Lightsaber. That Saber is going to be so much fun to play, especially with this deck.

What I respectfully disagree with is forcing his dice to go only one way. (Range/Melee) It might just be my play style, but I have found that when I try to control his dice, Im not controlling the opponents dice enough and missing opportunities to deal, or mitigate, damage.

Haha, Like the Force, I like to let the Dice Flooowww through me. : )

Supports like Awakenings is not a bad thing. It only costs 1 resource to get out and it doesn't cost you an action to use it while dealing damage. Not too shabby, especially to pick up any stray Modified Damage still left in the pool.

I decided not to use upgrades like Force Throw, Force Push, etc. is because they are Blue Abilities, and Chirrut cannot use them. I didn't want someone to gun down Kanan early in the game and then I have dead cards in my hand mid/late game. Also, Lightsaber Training was on my shortlist but was ultimately replaced with more defense and mitigation.

Thanks again for your opinion, I never want to shoot down anyones opinion. Rather, I want to learn from them.

Cheers

@Mick Ooooo! Thats cleaver. I like it!

Thanks!

cbs-ink 196

@OttRod Hahaha! Thanks! Sometimes I have more fun with Deck Names than I do with the actual deck!

Dude it was fun playing you on TTS yesterday! The deck was explosive and well thought out. You played it perfectly as well. Sorry i bailed right after the game was over but i had to leave! Just wanted to say thanks again for the game!

cbs-ink 196

@squatchdude Hey man! No worries, I understand.

Thanks for the game and I look forward to playing again. : )

Scactha 888

I think he can be used in different ways, so if it works for you enjoy :) I might just be unlucky. As long as he gets screen time I´m all for it!

Btw, I forgot to mention another possible new partner Anakin Skywalker - Conflicted Apprentice. In fact he´ll become the best Destiny enabler in the game for points and a sweet partner when using all these nice sabres we´ve got lately. Pulling Ancients, Shotos and Heirlooms into Training and paying with Destiny is real nice ;)

cbs-ink 196

@Scactha Totally Agree with you about Anakin! He's going to be the Cornerstone to so many Decks.

It's Finally a fun time to play Hero Decks! (Poe/Maz doesn't Count) LOL

Darkmeld 7

I usually break out my version of this deck when people want to play "casual" decks. Nothing casual about this but most people don't know! ;)

cbs-ink 196

@Darkmeld Haha! Awesome! Don't mind us, we are just 2 blind dudes... nothing to worry about! **Disney Villain Laugh

Treefarmer 171

Been playing a variant of this for a few days now. It's very strong because it's so consistent. Yours plays a bit more conservative but glad to see Chirrut finally got a good pairing.

Reminds me of my version that I've been enjoying and refining along the way...
