We put together a Villains only night tournament at our local shop, and it ended up being a blast. This was a deck that I had created way back when, and had some success with. Early on when I wasn't getting the roles I wanted, I added the Force Speed, which definitely gave it more success. Since there's not a whole lot of shield generation, they become pretty crucial.

With it being a tournament, I decided to take a bit of inspiration from the 2018 Worlds Champion Anakin/Kylo2 deck, but most of this was still my own. With all that said, here is a breakdown and opinion on how to play this one:

I play with Elite Maul and single die Kylo. This is done mainly to throw off my opponent. Even seasoned players stop and think, why is he doing that? Simple, to distract from going after Kylo first. This mostly works believe it or not. However, you could also go the other way and be just fine. With Elite Maul, I'm looking for the following:

-Early Crossguard Lightsaber & Force Speed on Kylo, preferably in the first round. Mulligan for these is possible. Having these out at the same time ended up being great for special chaining. Doing the 2 damage from Crossguard special, then two more turns with Force Speed, used for either activating and using Maul, or playing events.

Second round I'm looking to either get Heirloom Lightsaber or Maul's Lightsaber on Maul. Depending on damage taken in the first couple of rounds, I'd try and get a Force Illusion out. At this point, the melee sides and roles are truly in our favor and downright nasty. Breakdown of tournament, done Swiss style:

vs. Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch/Aurra Sing - Deadly Shot W - This was honestly my only challenging match. Opponent got 7 damage on Maul in the first round and had me worried. Luckily, got the upgrades I needed, along with good rolls where I was able to take out Aurra I believe in Round 2.

vs. TIE Pilot/Nightsister/Captain Phasma - Ruthless Tactician W - This was honestly no contest, and that's saying something. Opponent had great rolls, but I was able to mitigate a lot of his die. I may have killed Phasma in the first round, and from there it was over.

vs. Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch/Kallus - Agent of the Empire W - Another match where my opponent had some amazing rolls, but I had great mitigation. That, along with Crossguard Lightsaber, Force Speed and Maul's Lightsaber, and good rolls, this one also didn't make it to round 3.
