The title say it all. This was a learning experience for me and I hope this report helps anyone looking to start competitive play.
Tournament report:
The strategy of the deck is to play an ambush weapon like X-8 Sniper Rifle or Holdout Blaster on either character then roll out Captain Phasma. Then your opponent rolls out one of their characters and you roll out a using Jango Fett’s ability and resolve your dice.
The strategy was strong and it worked. It fell short because of the shields and healing decks were running. Second Chance, Field Medic, and Dug In kept the deck from generating turn 2 kills. Having a turn 3 kills means I am a turn behind a midrange strategy.
I was winning in testing, my deck felt weaker than normal in the past few weeks. I stuck with the creation because I thought it was good in the meta. The deck does a lot of consistent damage. It does this by chipping away 1-2 damage a dice including most of its weapons. Then it claims the battlefield and gains the benefit.
Main Plaza is the battlefield I used. It was chosen once in 8 matches and was only used because the opponent thought is was and I quote “nifty.” Main Plaza’s allows our deck to claim and heal. It allows us also to resolve our dice and then threaten lethal to an opponent. The reason we never play with our battlefield it the same reason we did not do well at this tournament. That is our dice sides are too small to win a roll out.
The meta was a lot of Bobba Fett/Seventh Sister and Vehicle decks. Sabine Wren decks didn't do great because I think the meta was ready for it. Our deck tries to beat Sabine decks by being half a turn faster.
In conclusion I need more practice at the game. Although I tested for hours and hours I think I should be playing multiple decks and really trying to learn what beats them. This was a great learning experience and I think I will be going to some larger event in the near future.

Deck is 100% right. The fact that you didn’t drop out and say screw it says tons. At the end of the day it’s about the fun you had playing. Your 2-6 is bigger than lots of 5-3 because you had fun and they’re mad they missed top cut. Keep building on Sat and good luck. Get reps in and above all man. Have fun |
Thanks for the kind words. I built 2 new decks today and boba/seventh and vehicle. To play and learn how they work. My plan is to attend a few local tourneys and then when Incan travel in the summer a galactic qualifier. |
the best way to get better is to learn, that you stuck through all 8 games and are trying to figure out what can you do better is awesome. Good luck in the future!
