An update to the Dooku/Kylo Holocron deck, with Asajj stepping in to provide a better die and passive ability at the cost of some health. I'm excited for this pairing but still in the process of refinement, so comments are welcome! I'm particularly wondering whether this deck is better than a more aggressive version featuring lower-cost upgrades like Makashi Training and Lure of Power to pump out fast damage with the good character dice and Kylo Ren's Lightsaber.
The deck aims to control incoming damage long enough to ramp out powerful abilities on one character for an end-game one-on-one in which you have the upgrade advantage. Dooku is the natural choice, both for his tanky ability and because opponents are likely to target Ventress early to remove her impact on rerolls.
This deck takes a very control-heavy approach to upgrades, replacing Kylo Ren's Lightsaber with Force Push for additional control, more consistent unmodified damage (even if it is off-type), and a side to disrupt the opponent's hand and trigger Dark Presence. Now I Am The Master is primarily a ramp card, but functions as decent early control.
I'm on the fence about It Binds All Things. A staple in Kylo/Dooku, it feels less essential here, more like insurance in case you don't see Holocrons. I'm looking to either commit to 2x, or toss it.
The event suite is fairly standard, with some experimentation around the SoR control options Manipulate and Anger. With control available on the upgrades and Dark Presence, and the speed of the new meta, I'm wondering how much is necessary here over damage cards like Power of the Force. All In is a speed card to capitalize on the focus on both characters.
Ideal early hands include Dark Presence, Vibroknife, Sith Holocron + ability (preferably Throw or Push). Early turns will generally be slow, setting up your supports and allowing opponents to claim so you can focus holocron dice. One you've got a 3-drop upgrade out, your turns can start to move faster. Generally you want to trade Ventress for one of their characters, at which point Dooku should have the upgrade advantage to carry the end game.
As mentioned, I'm looking to refine this deck heavily. If you have ideas for improvement, I'd appreciate hearing them.

Thanks! Let me know how it goes for you. I've been loving Dark Presence. While the die control isn't targeted, you can set up favorable situations by putting Vibroknife on Dooku and rolling after their first character. Early in the game it's especially good, often hitting character dice without upgrades. Even if the opponent removes bad results from, say, Poe or Vader, they can't reroll into better ones. |
Why Maz's castle for this deck? |
Forgot to switch the battlefield to throne room before publishing. I've also cut It Binds All Things for a second No Mercy and 1 Manipulate for Force Lightning. |
I'm a huge fan of control and this is right up my alley. Good write-up, and nice deck. I'll definitely be playing this one once I pull my second Asajj. I am not personally sold on Dark Presence, but this makes a good case for its inclusion.
